Descripción: | Many authors along history have had the job, the mission of being the translators of their times: Alphonso “the Wise”, Cervantes, Feijoo, among others. The translation of texts, and, in some cases, their recreation, it is much more than a simple didactic or work exercise, since the translator develops and important mediator position in our society: communicate with words. It is important to emphasize the intermediary role that the work of the translator has— in many cases, lonely; even isolated— because he is responsible of connecting meanings and content that reveal parameters and models of a given society. Our objective will be that of developing the previous ideas and deepening in the affirmation that translators are not typist with knowledge of foreign languages, but have to display enormous cultural background, imagination, creativity, geniality and improvisation skills in globalization times. The translator goes beyond linguistic boundaries and connects different models of societies to communicate with the idea of understanding the 21st century, the one we belong to: the translator communicates from one culture to another, from one society to another. And so, the main task of a translator is to create links between societies and social groups. Said task takes didactic and methodologic connotations when it comes to applying it to the language class: a great learning for the evolution of language in society. We will go through the main stages of literary history to see the epitome that the translator has been. |
