Descripción:In light of principal theories about school leadership and management, in this paper we analyzed the views of principals about their role in the education for democratic and social participation at Chilean and Spain secondary institutes. We analyze interviews of four principals from two institutes in Chile and two in Spain, they said that their role was close from dialogue and school climate and learning from vital experiences. Despite the results, this paper aims discuss the role of principals about the importance of teaching and learning citizenship, generate dialogue at schools and increase the creation of democratic spaces for the management with the scholar community.
