Descripción: | The loss of values is one of the main leading sources of negative conducts in children and young people. This phenomenon is attributed partially to the fact that fundamental social values are not taught nor promoted neither in the family or the school, nor in means where these people are developed. Hence the interest to analyze the potential of basic and physical education and sports, as means to support and promote the development of positive social values, besides that its presence in the national educative system contributes to the development of the character, the personality, and the way of thinking and acting of the person. The article proposes that the components of the Program of Physical Education facilitate education and the promotion of values like the tolerance and the identity, among others. It is concluded that physical education, by means of the playful recreational and sport activities, provides spaces to foment habits and values that fortify the will to reach better physical health, psycho-social balance and, therefore, a suitable quality of life. |
