Descripción:Introduction: In order to create the Bachelor’s Degree in Cultural Management at the University of Costa Rica, those who practiced the profession were consulted on issues of understanding and daily practice. The results are summarized in this article. Objective: To describe the aim and applications of Cultural Management in 2014 by a group of Costa Rican professionals as an epistemological input for the creation of a specialized university degree. Methods: Based on primary data, the practice of Costa Rican Cultural Management in 2014 is described. Results: Aspects such as academic training, organizations where they worked, characteristics of the job itself, challenges and limitations, training gaps and perception about the future of the profession are described. Conclusions: This information provided key guidelines that oriented the configuration of the Bachelor’s Degree in Cultural Management. In addition, some changes in the cultural sector, training spaces and the exchange of knowledge are outlined.
