Development and application of precise diagnosis technology for animal brucellosis

| Diğer Bilgiler: | In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the global incidence of animal brucellosis and human brucellosis. Notably, countries that had previously declared brucellosis eradication, including the United States, Canada, and several European nations, have repeatedly detected Brucella infections in both domestic and wild animals. Accurate diagnosis is the cornerstone of brucellosis prevention and control. Our laboratory has systematically developed 13 diagnostic methods covering multiple animal species, such as cattle, sheep, pigs, camels, and dogs, which include nine diagnostic techniques recommended by the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH). Specifically, our understanding with specificity and sensitivity of competitive ELISA (cELISA) and application of indirect ELISA (iELISA) and cELISA in initial screening test and confirmatory test of Brucellosis have been adopted by Manual of Diagnostic Tests and Vaccines for Terrestrial Animals of the World Organization for Animal Health. All Brucella diagnostic technologies/reagents developed by our team have been successfully commercialized and have become the primary diagnostic methods for brucellosis in China, effectively aiding multiple farms in controlling and eradicating brucellosis. Additionally, our Brucella diagnostic reagents have been adopted by EU/WOAH/FAO Brucellosis Reference Laboratory, other international Brucellosis Reference Laboratories, and national animal brucellosis control agencies in countries such as France, Israel, Russia, Thailand, Mongolia, and the United Arab Emirates. This report will focus on sharing China’s brucellosis diagnostic technologies and practical applications, elucidating how strategic method selection enables precise diagnosis of brucellosis. It aims to provide valuable scientific insights and practical references for the global integrated control of animal brucellosis, ultimately advancing worldwide efforts toward brucellosis eradication. |
