Kuvaus:This essay aims to present the experiences of anti-speciesist feminists in Central America. The findings discussed are based on the author’s doctoral research on anti-speciesist feminism in Latin America. Since this is a feminist study, its political-methodological approach includes recognizing women’s epistemic authority and their embodied experiences as sources of situated knowledge and consciousness. It also recognizes women’s cognitive modes, which integrate emotion and reason; therefore, the analysis considers sentipensares and affects. The author argues that the experiences that give rise to anti-speciesist becoming are those that emerge from, and through, diverse bonds with other-than-human animals, affecting us in ways that lead us to become anti-speciesist. These experiences are embodied, varied, and, above all, situated. These bonds with animals share the experience of being affected and, through embodied emotions, allow us to become-with other animals. As a result, we make life choices such as leaving them off our plates, change the way we perceive ourselves, accept our own animality, and recognize agency in other animals.
