A connection between linguistic and communication theories, applying the Grice´s Conversational Maxims (1975) and the theory of agenda setting (McCombs 1992, 1994, 1996, 2006), has been used. In this study, all news published about Spain in The Guardian digital edition (2013-2014) was selected to check if there is any misappropriation or misuse of them or if a proper, effective, and truthful communication. To check the use of information from The Guardian a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the content of this news has been made. The results reveal that the image offered by this digital media during this specific period of economic crisis is not always impartial.
