Descripción:This essay discusses about metacognition related to new constructivist perspectives and as a form of learning associated with knowledge management and organizational learning. From this new perspective, the knowledge of the subject is valued not only as an intraindividual feature, but rather inter-individual (or group) and organizational. The concept of institutional metacognition as a process that generates a conscious, dialogical and participatory learning in education is presented. This organizational perspective of learning and metacognition is relevant to the field of school management, because it implies the need to build a new vision of the school as an organization that not only teaches but learns and therefore delivers new tools and relevant to current social needs of communication and participation that are stressed nowadays educational organizations.
