Descripción:A quantitative analysis of the soil cover and property extension variables was conducted in La Paz, Piedades Norte, San Ramón, Alajuela, Costa Rica. Information was categorized according to natural and anthropic land covers, for which, 461 field validation points were taken, which were corroborated with the San Ramón cadastral map and the National Territorial Information database. Aerial photographs were analyzed in order to classify data semi automatically using satellite image processing and identification of materials in the images based on their spectral signature. Sentinel-2 (2017) images were used. Image processing and spatial analysis were conducted using the Semi-Automatic Classification Plugin for the QGIS 2.14.13 © software. A virtual raster file was created using Sentinel 8, 4, and 3 bands and the “Build Virtual Raster” option.  Regions of interest (ROI) were determined and then classified into macro classes based on the type of soil cover. Results were used to create a raster in which the pixel values correspond to ID class, and each color represents a type of soil cover. The study area is 2,606.31 hectares, including 66.54% of natural cover and 33.45% of anthropic cover.
